Decarbonizing Specifications v2
A Guide for Landscape Architects, Specifiers, and Industry Partners
The materials we specify, how we grade and protect soils, and what we plant all produce greenhouse gas emissions. As landscape architects, we can also plant for carbon sequestration and biodiversity, turning sites into part of the solution. We can make decisions that reduce our impact. By taking responsibility for our work and our purchasing power, we can help shift the construction industry

About
The goal of these guidelines is to make it easier for landscape architects to more effectively reduce greenhouse gas emissions from project design and construction. Sections cover seven key design principles and 24 areas of specification.
These guidelines are written for landscape architects and designers, specifiers, contractors, manufacturers, and leaders in our discipline and industry who want to cut emissions and increase carbon sequestration faster. They are thematic and condensed to provide a “CliffsNotes” overview of best practices.
