Sarah White, ASLA

Trustee, Illinois Chapter

Northwestern University

Sarah White is a licensed landscape architect and campus planner for exterior spaces at Northwestern University, where she guides planning and design across the Evanston and Chicago campuses.  Her work centers on creating accessible, resilient, and welcoming landscapes through long-range planning, design standards, natura-area stewardship, and strategic investment.  She brings more than two decades of experience in municipal and institutional planning, parks, streetscapes, wayfinding, and public-realm design.

Sarah serves as trustee of the American Society of Landscape Architects and has held leadership roles with the ASLA Illinois. She is a member of the Landscape Architecture Magazine’s Editorial Advisory Committee.  Her professional service focuses on strengthening the chapter, expanding landscape architects’ influence in public decision-making, and advancing equity in the built environment.  She is the founder and project lead for Urbs in Horto, an oral-history initiative documenting landscape architects who shaped Chicago’s public realm, with attention to historically underrepresented voices.
